Carrying on our seasonal theme of “Divest from the Pentagon, Invest in People,” the program begins with dinner on Friday an an evening program/discussion. Saturday will include panels and discussions about actions and organizing by war tax resisters, including legal cases, peace tax legislation, ideas for coordinated tax season actions in 2016, and a workshop for people new to war tax resistance and wanting to learn the how-tos. We’ll head to North Philly for a 4 pm “Poverty Reality Tour in a War Economy” with the People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign and have an outdoor dinner at the urban farm Las Parcelas. The NWTRCC business meetings is held Sunday morning and is open to all. See the developing schedule here.

The program (schedule will be posted soon) is open to everyone with an interest in war tax resistance and related organizing. Presenters will include longtime war tax resisters from around the country and Philadelphia area activists. Local participants are invited to come for all or part of the program.

Housing: Floor space will be available at the meeting house for those who choose. Please bring bedding and mat. For those who need beds there will be housing with local hosts.

Transportation: Please plan to take public transportation if you can. Anyone 65 or over, show your Medicare card and ride for one dollar. The Friends School website has good directions (same property with the meeting house).

Google MapsTrain: For those coming by train to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia: Go to the West end of the concourse and go up the ramp to the regional rail lines (SEPTA). The Media/Elwyn train goes to Lansdowne, with the train stations located a few blocks from Lansdowne Meeting. If walking is a problem we can pick you up at the Lansdowne station.

Air: For those coming by air to Philadelphia International Airport: Get the Airport Line (SEPTA rail) at the airport and exit at 30th Street Station, then follow instructions for those arriving by train. Or, check this PDF for the 115 bus service from the airport, which will drop you off right at the Meetinghouse at Lansdowne Ave and Stewart. This takes about the same time as the train if you hit it right. Current fare is $2.25 (vs $9.75 by rail). The bus comes right up Lansdowne Avenue and will drop off practically at the front door of the Friends Meeting. Total travel time is about the same as by rail, although it may run less often.

Public transportation is much more convenient and energy saving than car pickup, which has become increasingly difficult for private vehicles due to challenging security issues. However, if stairs and walking are difficult, please email us to arrange an airport pickup.

Bus: Megabus and Bolt Bus unload and load on west side of 30th Street Station.

Car: See the directions and map on the Lansdowne Meeting webpage. The street address for directions is 120 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050-1914.

Registration: $15 is asked for the weekend but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
