Gathering Location

November 2018, May 2019 – invitations welcome!
Cleveland would love to have us back. We were last there in Nov. 2009. Maria Smith has checked into a parish house that is part of her church, and it sounds very reasonable – There are 11 guest rooms, a combination of singles and doubles that can accommodate up to 18 persons. There is floor space also. We charge $16 per night per person, $12 per person per night, if 15 or more persons. There is a large meeting room in the front of the house, a chapel,a smaller setting in the living room, and a dining room. The space is not used regularly so there is no problem with being there a full weekend. Additional housing options would be sought also, as needed.

Stop Trump’s Military Parade! http://notrumpmilitaryparade.us/

Many groups are organizing to stop this parade, reclaim Veteran’s Day as Armistice Day and call for demilitarization and investment in programs that protect and support our communities in positive ways and heal the climate crisis and environmental degradation. We are joining together to collaborate on making the response to President Trump’s military parade bigger than the parade itself. We will show up in Washington, DC or wherever the parade might be held or take action in our local communities. If the parade is cancelled, we will still take action to make our demands heard.

Here are our demands:
Stop the glorification of war.
Return Veteran’s Day to Armistice Day, a day to celebrate peace.
Divest from the war machine and use public dollars for human needs and protection of the planet.
End the wars at home and abroad.

See the website for more info and the list of endorsers, which is long. In an email to NWTRCC, one of the organizers, Kevin Zeese, said “We hope the NWTRCC and WRL sign on to the coalition working to protest the military parade. They can let me know if they want to be included. Feel free to urge other organizations and individuals to endorse and join us.”
