Picture of W-4 with the following words written on it: I refuse to have taxes withheld for war!On Thursday February 5th (1pm Eastern/ 10am Pacific), NWTRCC will host an introduction to W-4 resistance. This new online session will address one of the most frequently asked questions of war tax resisters (WTR) by both those new and experienced in this practice- How do I fill out my W-4 form?  In the session we will go line-by-line of the W-4 form. NWTRCC has a video detailing W-4 resistance on our YouTube channel. We also have a downloadable flyer. There will be an open question and answer period for more general questions on WTR during the ‘Office Hours’ to follow. You can find out how to register here

Those new to WTR may want to prepare for the office hours by checking out some of the NWTRCC online library. You can find resources such as 5 Steps for getting started in WTR which can be downloaded and shared with those in your community. There is also the Peace Tax Return form that can be sent to the IRS and elected officials to express your conscientious objection to paying for militarism. Or you can find examples of letters that others have written to the IRS on our website.

NWTRCC also has a page devoted to Frequently Asked Questions with topics that range from possible impacts on credit scores to wage garnishment. There is also a page that gives an overview of  How to Resist.  You can find these and lots of other resources on the NWTRCC website which can be downloaded for free.

Hopefully by watching the videos and checking out these resources you can show up with some clarifying questions that will help you on your path. Also do not hesitate to reach out to the Counselors on our Contacts and Counselors List. As a reminder NWTRCC does not give tax advice but we will be reporting out what others’ experiences have been. NWTCC will also be offering another WTR 101 on February 24th (8pm Eastern/ 5pm Pacific) register here.
