David Gross

David Gross (San Luis Obispo, California) started resisting taxes at the start of the war on Iraq in 2003, first by lowering his income below the tax line, and later by also refusing to pay his self-employment tax.

An enthusiastic student of the history of tax resistance, both as a tactic in mass “people power” campaigns and as an individual form of conscientious objection, Gross is the author of 99 Tactics of Successful Tax Resistance Campaigns and edited the anthologies American Quaker War Tax Resistance and We Won’t Pay: A Tax Resistance Reader.
