Yes, we have a special bank account for that; Is there equipment in the Virtual and Online Equipment exp? No; There were some fundraising ideas and news that June, Patricia, and Daniel are joining the Fundraising Committee.
Proposals: (Both proposals can be found here.)
Proposal 1: Taxpayers Against Genocide, passed with no discussion.
Proposal 2: General Strike US, skepticism of their representation of millions of members and their organization and plan. AdComm does not recommend. We would like to encourage them to clarify plan, Tax the Rich, Gun Safety, Indigenous Rights, No Military for Genocide. More specifics on unions or groups that they are working with. Their followers on IG are asking what they are up to right now. Are medical people striking? No consensus, all asides or thumbs down.
Ed and Karl would have issues with the proposal if resubmitted. Lincoln will touch base with Ed and Karl to provide better feedback.
AdComm Nominations: Daniel W, Missy P
Next Meeting: Open invitation from Las Vegas Catholic Worker. Discussion about meeting in person in May v November. Better weather in May. Better for farmers to join in November.
Review of Consultants: Positive written and in-person evaluation. Would like to diversify the face of NWTRCC online. That is also responsibility of the whole network. Less gatekeeping on online chat. Want to save chats. Want to have space for off-topic comments. Collective responsibility to be face of NWTRCC.
Debrief:
In Person: Peter – Wonderful space and great food; Daniel – great food, new younger people with new skills, reconnect, harder to get to May meeting for farmers; Ruth – Virginia great presenter, reconnecting, new people; Lincoln – great: younger, connection, local host, Chrissy; Paula – Enjoyed McGovern, Christian with National Tax Stike, and Paul with 350.org; Steve – planners did a great job, great panels, Paul with 350.org’s emotion; Cathy – happy to reconnect, panels, great music, great hosting; Chrissy – invigorating, wonderful hosts, speakers, seeing Worcester community; Patricia – great to create space for people to meet for old and new friends. Great to see younger people. Good place for his small kids, Connected with Black Response Cambridge, missed not connecting in breakout groups with online people.
Online: Susan Miller – glad to be here, wished people in person with people, wanted a social time for people online; June Johnson – first conference, great speakers, well-organized event. Hybrid is important and done well. Hearing from long-time resisters give report; Karl Meyer – delighted to see old friends, wanted to hear Charlie King; Rick – Wished he was there. Really great. Panels were fantastic. Zoom was tricky; Sue – hard to travel, best so far with hybrid, but room for improvement. Would have liked to hear Charlie. Enjoyed McGovern, though very much a politician; Ed – Good to see Steve and old friends; Eleanor – better on schedule for hybrid than previous meetings, did not believe McGovern should have been a speaker, wanted to question speaker. Does not want any sessions for in-person people only; Ginny – excited about McGovern, but want to interact with him. New Mexico could be a host in 2027. Sarah – appreciated McGovern and his allyship. Had technology trouble.
