NWTRCC is meeting later in May this year so that we can join with thousands of other peace and justice activists during protests of the NATO summit. We will spend Friday night through Sunday morning talking about war tax resistance organizing in the current climate and doing some organizational business. We will also take some time to make signs and organize our contingent for the protest. The protest organizing website is cang8.wordpress.com. Friday, May 18 — Dinner at 6 p.m. followed by presentations and discussion about the recent tax season and war tax resistance organizing.

Saturday, May 19 — Sessions on organizational proposals, issues with individual war tax resistance, etc. Part 1 of our business meeting after lunch. Details in planning stages.

Sunday, May 20

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. NWTRCC business meeting (all welcome)

Noon: WTR contingent for NATO protests and rally

Housing

There is some housing at the Friends Meeting, and in the homes of local hosts. If you plan to come and have friends in Chicago, please help by arranging housing if possible. Please plan to bring sleeping bags as most of the sleeping arrangements are on the floor.

Cost

We ask $15 registration fee to cover food and facility costs, and we may need to ask for additional donations. But, no one is turned away for lack of funds!

Business Meeting

Proposals for the business meeting Sunday morning are due March 23 so that there is time to circulate them to the NWTRCC network for comments. Send proposals to the NWTRCC office.

Travel

Call the office if you have questions. If you want to book travel (early is good!), plan to arrive by 6 p.m. on Friday, May 18 (dinner is at 6). The Sunday, May 20 demonstration starts at Noon. If your return travel can be later that day please plan to join our war tax resistance contingent!

Driving directions and other information will be sent after registration. We will ask that people who can use public transportation from arrival points plan for that. Very limited pick-ups may be arranged as needed.

Please register by April 30, 2012, if possible, and especially if you need housing.
