WTRs in Asheville
David Swanson and Cindy Sheehan and war tax resisters from across the country met up in Asheville, North Carolina, May 3–5. The New South Network of War Resisters hosted and lots of locals joined us, provided housing, and told their stories. Read “Some Don’t Pay Their War Taxes” by David Swanson. See video excerpts. David Gross posted photos on Facebook, and we’ll add more links to photos and video in the next couple days. Thanks to our hosts, to Cindy who took time from the Tour de Peace, and to everyone who came!

Not Just April 15
War tax resistance doesn’t stop after April 15. In fact, now is a good time to study up. Every paycheck with federal tax withholding gives a loan for federal tax dollars that help buy drones, indefinite detention, nuclear weapons, killing innocent civilians… if you’re reading this you probably have your own list. One day you stopped paying for war…
One day you stopped paying for war, and that was an important event in your life. Let your Facebook friends know about it – and maybe inspire them to make such an event part of their lives – by following the instructions on this page to add that event to your Facebook timeline.
- Save this image to your computer:
(How to do this varies from computer to computer, but commonly you can right-click on the image and select Save As… from the drop-down menu.) - Go to your personal Facebook timeline page by clicking on your name in the upper-left corner of the Facebook page.
- Where Facebook invites you to add a new timeline entry (“What’s on your mind?”), click Life Event:
- From the options, choose Health & Wellness → Quit a Habit…
- Choose “Other” for Habit and fill in the blank below with “Paying for War”
- Change the When field to indicate when you started resisting war taxes.
- Click Upload Photo and upload the copy of the graphic that you saved to your computer in step 1.
- If you want, add something in the Story field about what brought you to resist, and/or note that people who want to resist war taxes can find out more at http://nwtrcc.org/
- Click Save.

Un día dejaste de pagar por las guerras, y ése fue un acontecimiento importante de tu vida. Avísase sus amigos de Facebook – y tal vez estimúlase ell@s hacerlo un parte de sus vidas – por siguiendo las instrucciones en este página web para añadir ese acontecimiento a tu línea de tiempo de Facebook.
- Guarda ese imagen a tu computadora:

- De las opciones, elige Salud y bienestar → Abandono de hábito nocivo…
- Elige «Otro» de Hábito y en el espacio en blanco debajo introduce «pagar por las guerras»
- Cambia el campo Cuándo para indicar a cuándo tú empezaste resistir impuestos.
- Haz clic en Subir una foto y sube la imagen que tu guardaste en paso #1.
- Si quieres, añade algo en el espacio en blanco de Historia sobre la razón por la cual tú decidiste resistir, y/o nota que las personas quienes quieren resistir impuestos para las guerras pueden descubrir más a http://nwtrcc.org/
- Haz clic en Guardar.
